Hello! Welcome! My name is Thoa Khuu. I'm a postdoctoral fellow at the Population Research Institute at the Pennsylvania State University. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology and a Master’s in Demographic and Social Analysis at the University of California, Irvine.
As a social scientist, I focus my research on understanding how our institutional and social systems shape the integration experiences of immigrants and their children. Specifically, my research uses a blend of demographic and social network methods to investigate structural disparities in the education, health and friendship patterns across immigrant groups and ethnoracial groups.
My research has been supported by a National Institutes of Health K99/R00 Award ($1 million) and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship ($138k).
My research has been published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior (forthcoming), Population Research and Policy Review, International Migration Review, Social Networks, and Socius.
Please check out my CV and Research & Projects tabs for more details about my research.
I have also added a resource sharing page to pay forward some of the generous advice and resources I have been given to succeed in my fellowship and grant writing.
